Pellitory (Bertram in German)

The incidence of infectious diseases is set to rise due to global warming, antibiotic resistance bugs, our own poor immunity, bad diet and chronic stress in modern day lifestyle. I highly recommend this herb for all year round use (especially when travelling) to protect yourself and family from infectious diseases. Add ½ to a 1 tsp to your cooked food, rice, spelt, porridge and on your bread and salads. You can also use this herb in your baking – breads, cookies, pancakes etc or take the tablets.

Properties and medicinal values by St Hildegard of Bingen

Pellitory has a temperate and somewhat dry warmth and because of this good temperament it is pure (pura est) and has a good powerful action (bonam viriditatem tenet).

In a healthy person it is good to be used because it diminishes the waste products in his blood (taben minuit) and builds good blood (bonam sanguinem auget).

when a person uses betram regularly it banishes sickness (infirmitatem fugat) and prevents him from becoming sick (et infirmari prohibet). It produces saliva in the mouth as a result it extracts the fluids (malos humores extrahit) and gives you your health back (sanitatem reddit).
