Paracetamol should never be used to treat a fever

This is according to Professor Frank Shann of the ICU, Royal Children’s hospital. From studies, it does not prevent febrile convulsions and in fact can increase morbidity and mortality of infections. In other words, chronic infection and sick for a longer period. The use of antipyretics is also associated with higher risk of asthma and eczema. Please note this applies also to the pregnant women. Health of the child starts from the womb. This include the mental state of the mother.

Fever is only dangerous when it reaches 40 to 41 degree. Herbs such as yarrow does not suppress the fever but rather open the channels of elimination i.e. skin, and to relieve tension in the lungs and the internal organs. I often combine yarrow with other herbs to to support the body’s innate immunity. They assist the body in producing antibodies to fight the virus including dengue and malaria.
